Bible Verses About Relationships – Who We Should and Shouldn’t Have Relationships With

Some Bible Verses About Relationships

Here I will deal with scriptures concerning nakedness (nudity)  literally, and who we should not see naked. Nakedness here can also extend to sexual relations where the term “uncover” is seen, so this should be kept in mind.

From the scriptures provided you will be able to see who YHWH permits Israel and other believers to have relations with.

I will be reading from Leviticus 18:5-20

So let’s begin:

 Leviticus 18:5,6

Ye shall therefore keep my statutes, and my judgments: which if a man do, he shall live in them: I am the Lord.

None of you shall approach to any that is near of kin to him, to uncover their nakedness: I am the Lord.

As Israel journeyed to the promised land Israel (Canaan) the Most High gave them many statutes that they should follow, which we can definitely learn from, especially if they deal with morality. keeping these laws today  will certainly bring us closer to the Father.

So, in the scriptures above we see the Father setting the ground rules in regards to human nakedness and who, we should not see naked, or have sexual relations with.

Nakedness of Father & Mother

Leviticus 18:7,8

The nakedness of thy father, or the nakedness of thy mother, shalt thou not uncover: she is thy mother; thou shalt not uncover her nakedness.

The nakedness of thy father’s wife shalt thou not uncover: it is thy father’s nakedness.

So if you didn’t know, it is not right to see your mother or your father naked. It is also totally unacceptable to sleep with your mother.

Nakedness of your Sister

Leviticus 18:9

The nakedness of thy sister, the daughter of thy father, or daughter of thy mother, whether she be born at home, or born abroad, even their nakedness thou shalt not uncover.

Here we see that you are not supposed to see your sister naked. The Father extends this to say, that even if she is born somewhere else, as long as she is your sister you should not be seeing here naked.

 Nakedness of Grand Children

Leviticus 18:10

10 The nakedness of thy son’s daughter, or of thy daughter’s daughter, even their nakedness thou shalt not uncover: for theirs is thine own nakedness.

It is forbidden for a Father or Mother to look at the nakedness of their grand daughter, whether it’s there sons or daughters daughter they are exposing.

Here it specifically says “uncover”, which means either Mother or Father have deliberately went out of their way to see the nakedness of their grand daughter. This is seen as the act of pedophilia today, when they are young and incest and perverse behaviour when they are older. This is totally forbidden!

Nakedness of Your Sister

Leviticus 18:11

11 The nakedness of thy father’s wife’s daughter, begotten of thy father, she is thy sister, thou shalt not uncover her nakedness.

Here the Father says that we are not to see the nakedness of a biological sister. Here it says fathers wife’s daughter, because where a person had an extended family i.e. a man with more than one wife, some may have thought it acceptable, if they deliberately saw the nakedness of a sister if she was from a different mother.

This is totally unacceptable, as it’s the Fathers seed that brought about both, irrespective of the woman he has planted his seed in.

Nakedness of Biological Auntie’s and Uncles

Leviticus 18:12,13

12 Thou shalt not uncover the nakedness of thy father’s sister: she is thy father’s near kinswoman.

13 Thou shalt not uncover the nakedness of thy mother’s sister: for she is thy mother’s near kinswoman.

Your Father and Mother’s sister’s nakedness is not allowed to be seen, as she is a close relative.

Nakedness of your Fathers Brother’s Wife

Leviticus 18:14

14 Thou shalt not uncover the nakedness of thy father’s brother, thou shalt not approach to his wife: she is thine aunt.

Just as it is unlawful to see you fathers wife’s nakedness, the same applies to your father’s brothers wife.

Nakedness of Daughter in Law

Leviticus 18:15

15 Thou shalt not uncover the nakedness of thy daughter in law: she is thyson’s wife; thou shalt not uncover her nakedness.

A father is not to deliberately see the nakedness of his sons wife.

Nakedness of Your Brother’s Wife

Leviticus 18:15

16 Thou shalt not uncover the nakedness of thy brother’s wife: it is thy brother’s nakedness.

If you have a brother and he has a wife it is unlawful to see his wife’s nakedness.

Nakedness with Women that are Related

Leviticus 18:17,18

17 Thou shalt not uncover the nakedness of a woman and her daughter, neither shalt thou take her son’s daughter, or her daughter’s daughter, to uncover her nakedness; for they are her near kinswomen: it is wickedness.

18 Neither shalt thou take a wife to her sister, to vex her, to uncover her nakedness, beside the other in her life time.

The father makes it clear that a man is not to deliberately see the nakedness of a women her daughter, her sons daughter or her daughters daughter. Again it is important to see that this is more than just seeing these relations naked, this is the act of seeking to “uncover”, the nakedness of these individuals.

Nakedness of the Unclean

Leviticus 18:19

19 Also thou shalt not approach unto a woman to uncover her nakedness, as long as she is put apart for her uncleanness.

Here we see that it is unlawful to deliberately see the nakedness of a person that is unclean, this can include a number of instance, such as a woman touching something that makes her unclean until evening; a woman after giving birth and many more…

No Sexual Relations with Neighbours Wife

Leviticus 18:20

20 Moreover thou shalt not lie carnally with thy neighbour’s wife, to defile thyself with her.

So we end here, with regard to nakedness with the Father saying that we are not to sleep with another mans wife.

Some of these commandments may seem obvious to some, but it is always great to see exactly what the Fathers says about the relations that we should not be having, I hope someone has been enlightened here.

Shalom.
