Bible Verses About Family – For Faith Building And Understanding

*if you can’t wait and are looking for immediate inspirational bible verses about family scroll down now*

Bible verses about family in the literal sense (i.e. as it relates to the immediate family) , are hard to find in the bible? I say this because, although the theme of the bible is righteousness and living at peace the bible does not always promote this within your immediate family unit.

There’s a chance you have never heard the scriptures explained like this before? And if you haven’t  I hope this explanation is an eye opener.

So now I want I want to support the statements I’ve just made, and hopefully this will make a lot of sense to people that may have always been at odds with their immediate family.

Here are the words of the Messiah:

Luke 12:51-53

51 Suppose ye that I am come to give peace on earth? I tell you, Nay; but rather division:

52 For from henceforth there shall be five in one house divided, three against two, and two against three.

53 The father shall be divided against the son, and the son against the father; the mother against the daughter, and the daughter against the mother; the mother in law against her daughter in law, and the daughter in law against her mother in law.

So as we see, the Messiah himself came to spread the good news to those that would accept it. From this we can now understand, that inspiring bible verses about family are not the focal point of the bible, but that righteousness is.

All this being said, it is possible to find a lot of positive bible verses about family, which related to believers like me and you, and how to deal with people in general.

So let’s continue with this bible verse in mind:

Psalm 111:10

10 The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom: a good understanding have all they that do his commandments: his praise endureth for ever.

It is only logical that bible verses about family should be related first and foremost to those that are in the body of the Messiah.

But before I begin listing scripture that deals with family, let me also add that we are also to be at peace with all men where ever possible, as Paul reminds us here:

Romans 12:18

18 If it be possible, as much as lieth in you, live peaceably with all men.

So with this being said, we are still to have full respect for the unbelievers as much as it is possible.

This doesn’t mean that we bend to the will of the unbeliever, but is does mean that there is really no need to create unnecessary arguments in our day to day life.

But at the same time if we have to defend the truth there is never any sin in doing so. Lets look the the great Apostles that came before us that were willing to laid down their lives for the Good news, such  as Paul and Stephen.

So here are the some great family bible verses:

Do Not Look Down On Others

Romans 12:16

16 Be of the same mind one toward another. Mind not high things, but condescend to men of low estate. Be not wise in your own conceits.

So here Paul says that we are to respect each other no matter our status’s in the body. This is much forgotten principle amongst so many so called believers.

How many times have you seen those that claim to be in the faith elevating them self above their congregations?

When the Messiah was with his disciples this same contention arose:

Matthew 20:25-27

25 But Jesus called them unto him, and said, Ye know that the princes of the Gentiles exercise dominion over them, and they that are great exercise authority upon them.

26 But it shall not be so among you: but whosoever will be great among you, let him be your minister;

27 And whosoever will be chief among you, let him be your servant:

28 Even as the Son of man came not to be ministered unto, but to minister, and to give his life a ransom for many.

So we see here the Messiah telling the Messiah exactly what Paul said i.e. that we as believers are not to think, our selves higher than each other.

Turn The Other Cheek

Matthew 5:38-39

38 Ye have heard that it hath been said, An eye for an eye, and a tooth for a tooth:

39 But I say unto you, That ye resist not evil: but whosoever shall smite thee on thy right cheek, turn to him the other also.

This verse is usually met with misunderstanding, some say does it mean literally to allow some one to hit you, or is it symbolical?

The truth is, the answer is both. There are instances where physical retaliation is certainly not warranted and others such as preservation of your life where it would be necessary. It is also wise to look at how many cheeks we have, the answer being two – so it is safe to say after the second attack we should defend our selves.

Here is Paul’s interpretation of what the Messiah says, which further supports what I have said:

Romans 12:17

17 Recompense to no man evil for evil. Provide things honest in the sight of all men.

18 If it be possible, as much as lieth in you, live peaceably with all men.

So we see Paul’s elaboration i.e. “if it be possible”, to be at peace.

Forgiveness

Matthew 18:21-22

21 Then came Peter to him, and said, Lord, how oft shall my brother sin against me, and I forgive him? till seven times?

22 Jesus saith unto him, I say not unto thee, Until seven times: but, Until seventy times seven.

Forgiveness is the cornerstone of a true believers faith, we see it in the YHWH’s pray also:

Matthew 6:12

12 And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors.

So if you or I have any ill will or bad feelings against a brother or sister it is our duty to always let it go! If not the YHWH will not forgive us.

Dealing With Family Disputes

It is not uncommon to feel let done by a fellow believer, but what do we do? In some case avoidance and forgiveness are the best antidote…

But in some case you may have been close to the person in question, so here’s how to deal with that situation according to the messiah:

Matthew 18:15-17

15 Moreover if thy brother shall trespass against thee, go and tell him his fault between thee and him alone: if he shall hear thee, thou hast gained thy brother.

16 But if he will not hear thee, then take with thee one or two more, that in the mouth of two or three witnesses every word may be established.

17 And if he shall neglect to hear them, tell it unto the church: but if he neglect to hear the church, let him be unto thee as an heathen man and a publican.

So we see a 3 stage process for making amends with a fellow believer.

3 Stage Process for Dealing with Disputes with Other Believers

(1) – Let the person know how they have let the faith down, if they agree the matter doesn’t have to go any further.

(2) – If this doesn’t work call another one or two other member of the congregation to be witnesses. If they agree again case closed.

(3) – Finally if the brother or sister is not willing to repent then all the other believers in the circle should be told, and they should sent out of the congregation.

These are some great steps for solving biblical disputes following them is the best way to build a sincere congregation of believers, but, all to often today people that are willfully indulging in sins are still allowed to remain in congregations across the world.

I hope these bible verses about family (immediate and in the faith of the Messiah) have inspired you, to live at peace with all men. And if you have a congregation, I hope they have inspired you to do things right by disregarding the pressures of the world.

Shalom

Meaning if your immediate biological family are not following the scriptures, you are not obliged to stick with them.
